in theatro
In this story all the Pompeiians are resting, neither the masters or the servants are at work. Many of the Pompeiians go to the theater on this day. In the theater the people await Actius and when he finally comes on to the stage they praise him. Then, suddenly they hear a servant yell saying that he is a great tightrope walker. The Pompeiians no longer care about Actius because all their attention is on the servant. Actius is not mad though because he is also paying attention to the servant.

Poppaea
Poppaea:
Poppaea awaits his friend, while Lucrio is in the villa. Boys run into the villa proclaiming that actors have arrived, but Lucrio thinks it was Poppaea who made the racket in the villa that woke Lucrio from his sleep. Poppaea tells Luciro that the actors are in the theater playing out a story -- and Lucrio wants to go to the theater to see for himself. After Lucrio leaves, friends enter the villa (including Grumio). Grumio seems to be pleased that Lucrio has left for the evening, and shouts a hurrah.
